Separate Medical Battalion of East Ukraine
The city of Artemivsk is home to the Separate Medical Company of the National Guard of Ukraine. A group operating from a volunteer-formed hospital that responds to large amounts of injured soldiers coming from the frontlines. Artemivsk lies in east-n Ukraine in the Donestk Oblast region, an area of signifi-ance in the ongoing conflict with Russian-backed separatists who seek independence from Ukraine.
The Separate Medical Company crosses into one of the most dangerous territories in Europe as they respond to calls from the frontline. The separatists often target their medical vehicles with sniper and rocket fire. The critically wounded, often receive urgent medical procedures in the field while bullets and shrapnel fly overhead. Those who make it back to the hospital are given treatment and necessary healing time before returning to battle on the frontline.
